출발 전: Visit Japan Web 등록
일본은 Visit Japan Web(VJW)에 입국심사·세관 정보를 미리 등록하면 QR코드 하나로 처리할 수 있어요. 출발 전에 여권 정보, 숙소 주소, 항공편을 넣어 두세요.
나리타·간사이 공항에는 입국심사와 세관 정보를 한 번에 읽는 공동 키오스크가 있어요. 다만 외국인은 여전히 심사관 앞에서 입국심사를 받아요.
사전 입국 허가제(JESTA)는 2028년 시행을 목표로 준비 중이고, 아직 시행 전이에요.
2026년 11월 1일부터 면세 방식이 바뀌었어요. 가게에서 세금을 포함해 계산하고, 출국할 때 공항에서 환급받아요(구매 후 90일 이내, 짐 부치기 전 출발 로비 단말기).
STEP 2 · TERMINAL
1터미널? 2터미널?
2터미널은 피치항공, 제주항공, 춘추항공이 써요. 그 밖의 항공사는 대부분 1터미널이지만, 항공권에서 꼭 확인하세요. 2터미널에서 내리면 무료 셔틀버스로 기차역(1터미널 쪽)까지 이동해야 해서 시간을 조금 더 잡아 두세요.
STEP 3 · BAGGAGE
입국심사와 수하물
입국심사 → 수하물 수취 → 세관 순서예요. 세관에서는 Visit Japan Web QR을 찍으면 돼요.
짐이 안 나오면 세관을 나가기 전에, 수하물 수취 구역 안의 이용 항공사 수하물 서비스 카운터에서 신고하세요. 짐표(수하물 태그)와 신고서 사본은 사진으로도 남겨 두세요.

데이터·환전
해외 카드를 받는 세븐은행 ATM이 24시간 있어요. 1터미널 1층·2층·4층과 국제선 게이트 구역, 2터미널 국제선 게이트 구역에 있어요(게이트 구역 ATM은 1회 3만 엔 한도).
도착하자마자 길 찾기를 하려면 출발 전에 eSIM을 사 두는 게 가장 편해요.
STEP 6 · LATE NIGHT
밤늦게 도착했다면
밤에 도착하면 내 노선의 막차 시각을 미리 확인하세요. 택시는 비싸요. 미터 택시로 오사카 중심(주오구)까지 통행료 포함 약 23,000엔이고, 밤 10시~새벽 5시에는 20% 할증이 붙어요. 예약제 정액 택시(MK 등)는 우메다까지 16,400엔부터예요. 공항 근처 호텔에서 하룻밤 묵는 것도 방법이에요.

STEP 1 · BEFORE YOU FLY
Before you fly: Visit Japan Web
Register immigration and customs details in Visit Japan Web (VJW) before you fly, and a single QR code covers both. Add your passport, hotel address and flight in advance.
Narita and Kansai have joint kiosks that read immigration and customs data in one step, but foreign visitors still see an immigration officer in person.
Japan's pre-travel authorization (JESTA) is planned for around 2028 and is not in effect yet.
From 1 November 2026 tax-free shopping works differently: you pay tax at the shop and get it refunded at the airport when you leave (within 90 days, at terminals in the departure lobby before bag drop).
STEP 2 · TERMINAL
Terminal 1 or 2?
Terminal 2 is used by Peach, Jeju Air and Spring Airlines; most other airlines use Terminal 1, but check your ticket. From Terminal 2 a free shuttle bus takes you to the train station, so allow a little extra time.
STEP 3 · BAGGAGE
Immigration and baggage
The order is immigration → baggage claim → customs. At customs, scan your Visit Japan Web QR.
Bag didn't arrive? Report it before you pass customs, at your airline's baggage service counter in the baggage claim hall. Keep your bag tag and the report, and photograph both.

Haruka is much cheaper with the visitor discount ticket bought online in advance (about ¥1,800 to Shin-Osaka, ¥2,200 to Kyoto).
You can tap in with ICOCA or Suica, but Haruka and rapi:t also need a limited-express ticket.
With heavy bags and a hotel near a stop, the limousine bus avoids stairs.

Data and cash
Seven Bank ATMs accept foreign cards 24 hours: Terminal 1 floors 1, 2 and 4 and the international gate area, and the Terminal 2 international gate area (gate-area ATMs limit each withdrawal to ¥30,000).
An eSIM bought before you fly is the easiest way to navigate the moment you land.
STEP 6 · LATE NIGHT
Landing late at night
Check your line's last departure before you fly. Taxis are expensive: a metered taxi to central Osaka (Chuo-ku) is about ¥23,000 with tolls, plus 20% from 22:00 to 05:00. Pre-booked flat-rate taxis (such as MK) start from ¥16,400 to Umeda. An airport hotel night is another option.
